How long is it since you tried something new?

I reflected later that that's not quite true. I have embarked on a few different things this year: doing fundraising for the National Centre for Childhood Grief which meant going to organisations like Macquarie Bank, State Street and The National Council for Jewish Women to speak about my children's experiences of grief after losing their Dad.
I have learnt (more or less) to use my MacBook and my iPhone, which involves Keynote and other things.
Haven't tackled Garage Band yet but that is soon to follow. I remember something from Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, which essentially was: if you're ok with being uncomfortable, you can learn anything.
So how long is it since you learnt something new? And what are you going to learn next? After all this is probably the closest we have to the fountain of youth. Keep your brain alive by learning new stuff as advocated by Norman Doidge in The Brain that changes itself.
Go ahead, be uncomfortable, have fun and learn something new. It's exhilarating!!! Tell me what you choose to do.

I am leading a community choir (paid) at the urging of a friend. I was trying to get two more experienced people to do it, but no success. I felt fear, but didn't want to admit it cos she's such a go ahead actress! So it was feel the fear and do it anyway. I've found a voice group to support me with advice and ideas and have developed a warm up and plan and inspiration! So I'm not so nervous anymore but am looking forward to the practice run this Wed! I never would have put myself forward for this myself, but now I'm so glad my friend did. By Kate Pascoe on
